Football team Christmas party

Tonight we had a party to celebrate our achievements this term in the football team.

We enjoyed playing some parachute games and handball, as well as our favourite part of any party - the food!

Football training continues on Thursday 6th January. Matches will begin as soon as the evenings get lighter.

Year 6 Basketball Tournament

Apologies with regards to the cancellation of the Year 6 Basketball Tournament.

Unfortunately we didn't have enough cars to transport the children to Oaks Park.

Important Information - Basketball and Football

Hi All,

Apologies that the Year 6 basketball was cancelled today due to the bad weather. It will now take place next Wednesday 8th December. Children need to be collected from Glade school at 12.15pm and collected from Oaks Park at 3.00pm. Please use the Perrymans Farm road entrance.

There will be no football training tomorrow (2nd Dec.) due to the weather or the following week (9th Dec.) due to the Christmas ball.

Year 6 Mixed Basketball Competition - Wednesday 1st December

This will take place on Wednesday 1st December at Oaks Park High School. Please use the Perryman's Farm Road entrance to the school. Please click here for a map to the school.

Children taking part need to be collected from Glade at 12.15pm please to be taken to Oaks Park. They can be collected from Oaks Park at 3.00pm.

Please ensure that your child has a packed lunch in school on the day.

They will also need their p.e kit (and trainers), but we will be wearing team t-shirts. Please could these t-shirts be returned ASAP after the event. Thank-you.

Year 3 Athletics

Well done to all the children who took part in the athletics competition at Caterham yesterday. We did really well finishing first in both the mixed single lap race and the girls relay race.

Year 3 Indoor Athletics Weds.10th Nov - Change of Venue

The Year 3 Indoor Athletics competition on Wednesday 10th November will now take place at Caterham High school and not Beal High School (as originally stated) so we will be walking to Caterham as a group and children will need to be collected from there at 3.00pm.

Please return reply slips as soon as possible if your child is able to attend.

We will begin training for the event after half term.

Cross Country Athletics

Well done to all the children who took part in the cross country athletics competition on Wednesday.

You all did really well and your behaviour and team spirit were a credit to the school.

Cross Country Athletics - Last Minute Information

Thank-you to all of those who have returned their reply slips.

Please find below some information for Wednesday's Cross Country Athletics competition at Ashtons.

Please remember to bring a packed lunch with you as we will be eating earlier than usual at 11.30am ready to leave about 11.50pm - 12.00pm as we need to be at Ashton's at 12.15pm.

Please bring either your yellow glade t-shirt or green glade jumper with any shorts/jogging bottoms. Trainers are fine but no spikes please as part of the race will be on the running track.

Cross Country Athletics - Weds. 20th October

This event will be taking place at Ashton's Playing Field.

If you have been chosen please return your reply slip as soon as possible so that we have time to find a replacement if necessary.

Sports Fundraiser for Pakistan Floods Appeal

Years 1 and 2 had great fun today taking part in a sports fundraiser for the Pakistan floods appeal.

Each child brought in a pound towards the appeal to take part on our amazing obstacle course which involved lots of jumps, slides, twists, turns and lots more! Please see the photos below to see the fun that we had.

Year 3/4 Multi-sports Club

Just a reminder that Year 3 and 4 Multi-sports club starts this Thursday at 12.15pm. Please meet OUTSIDE the Lloyd Hall. We have lots of fun new sports planned for you this year! Mr. Merchant and Mrs Shilston

Football Team Training

Just a reminder that football team training starts this Thursday from 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Please ensure that you bring a football kit, shinpads and football boots if you have them.

Due to the Walton on the naze trip, interviews for Captain and Deputy positions will now take place on Tuesday at assembly time in 2M.

Autumn Term Updates

Welcome back!

I hope that you had a great Summer break.

Please remember to send back your child's P.E Kit.

For P.E lessons children need:

- A plain white T-shirt
- Black shorts
- Plimsolls
- Dark coloured jogging bottoms for outdoor P.E when it is cold

P.E is an important part of the school curriculum so please ensure that your child has their P.E kit in school each week.

At Glade, all children take part in 1 hour of indoor P.E and 1 hour of outdoor P.E each week. They also take part in a daily 10 minute physical activity session in class, as well as the Chinese exercise on a Friday. This helps to develop a healthy and active lifestyle and we ask you to help us to support this at home too.

We are pleased to be able to offer a wide range of extra curricular sporting opportunities including clubs and competitions for your child to continue to develop their skills and enjoyment of sport.

Competition Kits

Please can you return ANY Glade competition kits that you may have at home ready for use next year. This includes pink t-shirts, yellow shorts and t-shirts and football kits. Thank-you for your support in ensuring that the children have smart kit to wear each time they represent the school at a sporting event.

Key Stage 1 Gymnastic Competition

Thank-you to all the parents who put their child's name forward for the Gymnastics competition next year. As the response was very positive I will be holding trials for the names that I have. You will find out whether your child will be taking part in the competition once the trials have taken place in September. Thank-you for your support.

It was a very difficult decision. Everyone who trialled was at a very good standard. We will soon be holding interviews to select the Captain and the Deputy.

Sports Day

A big congratulations to everyone who took part in Sports Day on Monday and for the parents who came along to support.

The yellow team won with a total of 263 points, closely followed by the green and blue teams, who drew with 240 points, and then the red team with 221 points.

Year 5 Partnership Festival

Well done to those who took part in the Partnership festival at Redbridge sports centre today. The girls' team came 1st in their group for netball, tag rugby and athletics. There was excellent team spirit from everyone and you should all be very proud of your achievements. Please take a look at the photos from the day.

Catheram Partnership Festival!!

Selected children were luckily chosen to participate in the Catheram partnership festival. This will take place on Wednesday 30Th June 2010. The activities we will be doing are Netball, Athletics, Tag Rugby, Bean Bag hunt and Multi-sports. For every game, we will be awarded points, and at the end of the day, they will be counted up and the winning teams in each event will get a trophy. Everyone is very excited and we hope to bring back loads of trophys.

Yoga

Glade are proud to offer each child at least 10 minutes of structured in-class physical activity each day in addition to their 2 hours of weekly P.E. This physical activity may come in the form of Yoga, Take 10 (Aerobics,) Brain Gym or Speedstacking. The video below shows how Yoga can greatly improve childrens' concentration and well-being and in turn improve their learning.

Year 5 Football Team Trials

Year 5 Football Team Trials

Trials for next year's football team (2010-2011) will be undertaken soon!

Trials will follow the same procedure as last year.

There will be a short meeting for any Year 5's (boys or girls) who would be interested in attending the trials. This will take place at an assembly time/playtime - date to be confirmed soon. At this meeting, those interested will fill in a questionnaire.

Following this, me and Mr. Ashwell will take a look at all the questionnaires and if you are successful you will be invited to 2 trials.

Teamwork trial - This will show us how well you can work together in a group. We will also be looking for leadership qualities. You will be given a variety of tasks to do in groups and we will see how you get on.

Skills trial - A chance to show us your footballing skills. We will be looking a dribbling, shooting, passing, goalkeeping, heading skills as well as your teamwork and speed and movement skills.

So get training and you will be notified of the initial meeting the first week back after half term!

Tuesday 22nd June - Year 3 and 4 Athletics Competition at Ashton Playing Fields

Wednesday 23rd June - Year 5 Sports Partnership Festival - Redbridge Sports Centre

Children have been selected by teachers for the above events. Training will be held at lunchtimes leading up to the events.

Monday 5th July - Sports Day AM - KS1 PM - KS2 - Information will be given out after half term.

Year 3 and 4 Multi-skills club continues on a Thursday lunchtime in the Lloyd Hall.

Year 2 Athletics - May 2010

Our Year 2 Athletics team done an excellent job at the athletics competition at Caterham High School on Wednesday. We finished 3rd out of a large number of schools and all received a medal for our achivement.
